Course overview
This course establishes the clinical foundation of the CTB Lower Body Protocol, applying the core CTB principles to the most common lower body pain presentations seen in practice.
You will learn to work effectively with:
- Knee pain
- Hip and thigh pain
- Sciatic-type pain
- Most low back and sacral pain patterns
As with all CTB clinical core trainings, emphasis is placed on:
- Direct and satellite referral
- Functional muscle relationships
- Identification of key perpetuating factors
- Decision-based treatment cycles and protocols
Why lower body training is different
The lower body involves larger muscles, higher loads, and more demanding mechanics than the upper body. As a result, effective treatment requires a broader and more refined technical toolkit.
This training places special emphasis on:
- Handsfree-style techniques to reduce strain on the practitioner
- Efficient body positioning and leverage
- Techniques that allow deep, effective work without overusing hands and thumbs
These approaches are not only more sustainable for the therapist, but produce fast and lasting results for the client.
CTB treatment protocols
Students are guided through CTB’s lower body treatment protocols, which organize muscles by function and neurological relationship rather than isolated anatomy.
You will learn how to:
- Apply treatment loops to related muscle groups
- Make informed clinical decisions at each stage of treatment
- Progress work by monitoring tissue change and ROM improvements
These protocols are the backbone of the Coaching The Body® approach and are designed to remove guesswork from complex lower body cases.
Instructor & certification
This training is taught by Doug Ringwald, CTB Master Practitioner and Instructor.
Upon successful completion, students receive a certificate providing 17 NCBTMB CE hours.
